Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a memo and some related information pertaining
to the new fire inspection program we are proposing to
implement. It is my understanding that the program will
work as follows:
A letter will be sent to commercial /industrial
properties introducing them to our new program and
providing them with some basic information that
they can use to undertake a self - inspection. Once
that self- inspection has been completed (within 30
days), we will schedule a time at which to conduct
a more detailed inspection to note any remaining
deficiencies. Any deficiencies noted will be
followed up accordingly until compliance is
obtained.
* Inspections undertaken by City staff will be more
comprehensive in nature than anything done
previously. It will also serve as a source of
documentation to the Fire Department for any
potential hazards which may exist within the site
should they be found. This will be useful should
they ever be called to the scene for a fire
response.
The intent of this program is to work with the
property owners in a cooperative manner whereby
the City is viewed as an ally rather than as a
regulatory agency. A different stance will be
taken should non - compliance continue beyond the
appropriate point in time.
ray. page 44
