Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Fencing and screening issues have been identified in the past by the
Community Pride Committee and recently by the Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission has had this issue on their agenda and have
reviewed the problem that exists in Ryan Industrial Park. Zoning
Code violations are as follows:
* The Zoning Code Ordinance requires wood fences for outdoor
storage (see attached).
* Storage of materials in front of businesses - front yard.
* Existing chain -link fencing used for storage areas.
* Junk, debris and maintenance of property /landscaping issues
exist.
Since resurfacing of the road in Ryan Industrial Park and the
re- establishment of the boulevard, property owners have taken steps
to eliminate the code violations listed above. They also have taken
pride in improving the appearance of their businesses. However, the
property owners on the west side of Ryan Drive have had their
businesses in place since Ryan Industrial Park was established and
have had no rear yards. Therefore, there is storage in the front.
These businesses include Belland's Auto Repair, Twin Town Motors, Joe
Rossi and Peterson's Maintenance Corporation.
Business owners have not yet completed removal of the accumulation of
junk material. There still remains tires, junk vehicles, carcasses
of cars and buses, and the like. On a more positive note, business
owners as stated above have tried to meet zoning code regulations.
Another measure that was taken by the City was to eliminate parking
on the west side of Ryan.
Page 12
