Mayor & City Council
December 3, 1993
Page 2
Based on some rough projections that were included in the
budget packet for our November 15 workshop, it would appear
that a City contribution ranging from $18,750 to $20,789
would be needed to attain that level. (Please keep in mind
that these amounts based on assumptions that may or may not
occur. Therefore, the City contribution amount may need to
be even higher than what is listed.) It should also be
noted that under the assumptions utilized, this benefit
increase would not be attainable until the year 1996.
Factors beyond our control have changed the way we approach
this situation. In my opinion, our decision should be
based on our comfort level with current and future benefit
amounts. If we assume that the current level is adequate
for now and into the future, then I would recommend the
City's support be reduced to the $12,000 figure. If we
assume that benefits may need to be increased in the
future, then a higher level of support will be necessary.
JRH:kpv
cc: Dan Peterson, President of the Relief Association
Dick Boss, Fire Chief
Page 34
