MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />NOVEMBER 9, 1993 <br />The Planner did not feel it unreasonable for the City <br />to hold off on action against this sign since there was <br />the possibility that the sign would be reused. <br />Carson felt it was situations like this that made the <br />City look messy. <br />Knudsen pointed out the requirement for the quansit hut <br />on the Sculley property to come down next year, and <br />asked who would enforce that issue. Knudsen pointed <br />out that the screening ordinance has not been enforced. <br />Keis asked about the billboard issue recently discussed <br />by the Council. <br />The Administrator reported that the billboard is <br />illegal under the City's ordinance, but to enforce that <br />ordinance would require the City to spend thousands of <br />dollars. The Administrator also reported that he has <br />had numerous conversations with TCF about the Burger <br />King sign. It now appears that the Burger King <br />building will come down. TCF has also indicated that <br />they will be making application to retain the pylon <br />sign for use by the bingo hall. The <br />Administrator felt it was important for the Commission <br />to document what it wants to accomplish by updating the <br />Comp Plan, noting the estimated cost of $17,500 to do <br />so. The Administrator also felt that the Commission <br />should be clear on what it wants to accomplish in <br />updating the plan so the City will get the product it <br />wants. <br />Knudsen pointed out that the current Comp Plan is an <br />outdated document that provides no relevant information <br />about where the City wants to go. The document <br />provides no feedback relevant to today's issues. <br />Keis stated that some of the information in the current <br />plan is still usable.
