To whom it may concern.
I have taken it upon myself to find the minutes from the last meeting and would like to
point out as few things. Vadnais Heights has been a front runner in giving bow and arrow hunters
opportunities to take deer on a yearly basis. You have to keep in mind though that the deer
problem will not get any better right away; however, you can keep it under some kind of control.
In the years to come with all the homes being put in the area, the deer will be pushed out of their
environment for good. Not that this is a bad thing but it is what the building is doing and was
noted in the last minutes by Scalze. Morelan noted the geographical location would be a
problem, and I can see the point. It is right next to the park. My worry comes with children that
play in the park. With the deer getting use to people, they just wouldn't be afraid. I have seen
first hand that male deer during the rut just do not care what is in their way and children or adults
(for that matter) can't outrun a deer.
Slim Frattalone I'm sure is not the only one with the crop loss,
some of you have roses, trees and other costly shrubs and plants that may have been blamed on
the neighbor kids and unannounced to you its the deer up the street. I realize that to let a few
people in and harvest deer in the area you, and I live in would mean to amend the existing
ordinance to allow the discharge of a bow and arrow, and I believe that for the safety of all and
the least amount of lost crops that the amendment would go in affect as expedient as the harvest.
Any other means of removing the deer would be to costly for those involved and this means all
of us.
Thank you for your time and attention you have been very kind and understanding
Page 21
