MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />NOVEMBER 9, 1993 <br />are clean, and felt that screening for the other <br />properties would only result in trash being hidden <br />behind a fence. <br />Keis agreed with Knudsen's comments. Keis pointed out <br />that the condition of the properties in Ryan Industrial <br />Park varies greatly. Keis stated that screening is not <br />a big issue for those properties where the owners take <br />pride in their properties. <br />Knudsen pointed out that the property owners with nice <br />looking fences also have clean properties. <br />Keis pointed out that security becomes an issue for the <br />property owners when property is screened. <br />Drabik felt that screening was fine, but would not <br />address the issue of a poorly kept property. Drabik <br />pointed out that properties need to be sodded and grass <br />cut. Drabik felt that a wooden fence would get trashed <br />quicker than chain -link. <br />Schletty agreed that security was an issue. Schletty <br />indicated that he did not like the appearance of <br />slatted chain -link, and also asked what control the <br />City had over the materials used in wooden fencing. <br />Schletty reported that property owners who keep their <br />properties clean are not the issue, and stated that <br />putting a fence around junk will not resolve the <br />problem. Schletty asked how the City would police the <br />park pointing out some of the properties which had a <br />lot of junk stored on them. <br />Keis pointed out the construction materials that the <br />various businesses use in their operations are just <br />what the City wants screened. <br />Drabik also felt that vehicles could be parked in an <br />orderly fashion. <br />Schletty asked if the Building Official would enforce <br />the junk ordinance. <br />The City Administrator reported that in Ryan Industrial <br />Park code enforcement has been delayed pending <br />completion of the road improvement. The City wanted to <br />see clearly defined driveway accesses before code <br />enforcement was addressed. The Administrator reported <br />Page 2 <br />
