MINUTES CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 11, 2013 56 LITTLE The City Administrator reported that he received a call from a realtor CANADA informing him that the property at 56 Little Canada Road is going to be ROAD put on the market. The Administrator noted that this property abuts Round Lake, but was not part of the City's original plan for acquiring these abutting properties as they became available for sale. The property immediately to the east was also not included in the plan. There are two other properties along Round Lake yet to be acquired. The Administrator noted that the City has taken the position of waiting until a voluntary purchase is possible. The Administrator reported that the house at 56 Little Canada Road is 600 square feet in size, and the realtor initially indicated an asking price of $129,900. However, given the property is involved in an estate, the realtor indicated that it may be necessary to officially list it for sale. The Administrator informed the Council that he told the realtor the City would likely want to do an appraisal of the property and then pay the appraised value. The Administrator reported that the Parks & Recreation Commission has reviewed this potential acquisition and is recommending the house be acquired for park purposes. The cost would come from the Park Land Acquisition Fund. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -9 -166 — AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO COMMENCE NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 56 LITTLE CANADA ROAD FOR PARK PURPOSES, WITH THE COUNCIL TO HAVE FINAL APPROVAL OF ANY PURCHASE AGREEMENT THAT MIGHT BE NEGOTIATED The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. Ayes (4). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:23 p.m. 11
