Hanson <br />TO: Mayor Blesener and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />DATE: May 17, 2013 <br />RE: Re- Evaluate Commission Appointment Process & Develop By -Laws <br />City staff has surveyed surrounding cities relative to their commission appointment process, and <br />I have attached a summary of the findings as well as individual ordinances. The key issues that <br />staff focused on in preparing this survey are as follows: <br />Interview Process; <br />Term /Term Limits; <br />Chair and Vice Chair Appointments; <br />Attendance Requirements; <br />Removal from Office; <br />Governing Mechanism. <br />Based on your review of this information and the direction provided, the next step will be for <br />staff to prepare a draft policy -- either through ordinance amendment or by -laws. That draft <br />would be presented to the Council for review and adoption at its June 26" regular meeting. <br />1 <br />
