concentrates in the existing concrete curb and gutter. The curb and gutter conveys the
runoff to a set of catch basins near the east end of Viking Drive. This storm system
discharges directly into the MnDOT ditch system along Highway 36. Drainage Area 4 lies
within the Lake Gervais subwatershed.
• Existing Drainage Area 5 — 7.73 Acres
Drainage area 5 represents all of Desoto Street along with the majority of the surrounding
properties. Runoff in this area generally flows overland until it reaches the street section.
Runoff is the channeled along the edge of the road, flows to the north, and is captured by
a set of catch - basins near the intersection with Lark Avenue. Runoff is then conveyed to
the north through a series of pipes to the MnDOT ditch system along Highway 36.
Drainage Area 5 lies within the Lake Gervais subwatershed.
• Existing Drainage Area 6 — 12.73 Acres
Drainage Area 6 represents all of Burr Street, Hendry Place, Highway Drive, and
approximately half of Sunrise Drive. It also encompasses the majority of the residential
properties surrounding these streets. Runoff in this area generally flows overland until it
reaches the street section. Runoff is then channeled along the edge of the road, flows to
the northwest, and is captured by a set of catch - basins near the intersection of Burr Street
and Highway Drive. Runoff is then conveyed to the north through a series of pipes to the
MnDOT ditch system along Highway 36. Drainage Area 6 lies within the Lake Gervais
subwatershed.
• Existing Drainage Area 7 — 4.47 Acres
Drainage Area 7 represents the southernmost portions of Sunrise Drive along with the
surrounding residential properties. Runoff in this area generally flows overland until it
reaches the street section. Runoff is then channeled along the edge of the road, flows to
the south, and is captured by a set of catch - basins near the intersection of Sunrise Drive
and County Road B. Runoff is then conveyed to the east, through a series of pipes, to the
pond at the northeast corner of Edgerton Street and County Road B. Drainage Area 7 lies
within the Keller Lake subwatershed.
• Existing Drainage Area 8 — 1.80 Acres
Drainage Area 8 represents the portions of Sunrise Drive near its intersection with
Edgerton Street. It also includes the surrounding residential properties. Runoff in this area
generally flows overland until it reaches the street section. Runoff is then channeled along
the edge of the road, flows to the east, and is captured by a catch -basin near the
intersection of Sunrise Drive and Edgerton Street. Runoff is then conveyed to the east,
through a series of pipes, to the pond at the northeast corner of Edgerton Street and
County Road B.. Drainage Area 8 lies within the Keller Lake subwatershed.
Storm sewer piping throughout this neighborhood is very limited, located mostly at the ultimate
discharge point. Generally, drainage is channeled along the edges of the streets, relying on
boulevard edges to keep the drainage impounded within the street section. A significant amount
of pooling occurs within the street section, contributing to the degradation of the pavement. Storm
drainage leaves the neighborhood untreated for excess nutrients and pollutants, directly draining
into the MnDOT ditch system, pond at the northeast corner of Edgerton Street and County Road
8, and other ponding facilities downstream from the neighborhood.
12
22
