515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
May 20, 1994
TO: Mayor Hanson and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant
Re: Community Survey
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve MoreIan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
At its May llth meeting, the Council discussed the use of a focus
group -type committee to assist in identifying issues that can be
addressed on the City's community survey. Based on the Council's
discussion, it was my impression that this committee would be
comprised of representatives of various population segments
within the City. The City would assist in the
process by supplying Decision Resources with listings of the
businesses in the City, listings of families with young children
attending Little Canada Elementary School and St. John's School,
listings of residents of the mobilehome parks, and supplying the
City's voter registration list. I have contacted the apartment
management in the City regarding listings of their residents.
While they are not able to supply such listings, they will assist
in distributing information to their residents.
Once Decision Resources is supplied with the information they
need, they will randomly select potential committee participants.
Letters will be sent to a number of individuals asking for
participation on the committee.
Traxler felt that the ideal committee size was 12 to 15, but
indicated that she could work with a larger committee, if
necessary. Once this committee is formed, Decision Resources
would meet with the members and facilitate discussion in order to
Page 1
