Olson
James F Engelhardt
The Ramsey Washington Watershed District has requested storm drainage improvements be placed in
various locations along County Ditch 16. The Watershed efforts are to minimize erosion and subsequent
siltation into new pond facilities at Gervais Park. Storm water runoff from Noel Drive is currently
eroding the banks around the culverts at Noel Drive. The Watershed has requested that the City take
action.
We have completed our analysis for storm sewer drainage improvements. We propose that two (2) catch
basins be installed on Noel Drive over the culverts. The catch basins can be spaced for construction of
a future 30- foot -wide urban section street for Noel Drive.
We propose that the disturbed street area be patched and that a hand - formed bituminous curb be
installed to direct surface runoff into the catch basins. Ultimately, concrete curb and gutter will be
installed upon reconstruction of the street. The relatively high unit costs associated with mobilization
and the replacement of short lengths of curb and gutter deters us from recommending the placement
of concrete curb and gutter at this time.
Existing guardrails adjacent to the embankment on both sides of the roadway are in poor condition. The
guardrails should be replaced after complete installation of the storm sewer when the street is
reconstructed. For the construction of the catch basins at this time, we propose that the existing
guardrails be removed and reinstalled.
Itemized costs are presented in the table enclosed. Estimated project costs total $23,300.
We would be pleased to meet with you to further discuss improvement options. We need authorization
to proceed with the preparation of plans and specifications for the improvement. We recommend that
this work be combined with other 1994 improvement projects so as to gain an economy of scale.
Yours very truly,
BONES 11(00, ROSENE, ANDERLIK & ASSOCIATES, INC.
Michael C.
