D & T Trucking Co., Inc.
Proposed Corporate Headquarters
Little Canada, MN
D & T Trucking Co., Inc. is a truckload motor carrier that
provides time and temperature sensitive transportation services
to over 200 customers in the Midwest, Eastern and Southeastern
portions of the country. Major customers in the Midwest include,
Land 0' Lakes, Andersen Corporation, 3M, H. B. Fuller,
J. I. Case, Bongards' Creameries, Super Valu and Fingerhut
Corporation. D & T serves customers with demanding service
requirements or a need for temperature control. Goods are picked
up from a customer's location and delivered directly to its
destination without crossing a dock.
D & T was founded in 1959 and has been at its present location
since 1961. D & T currently employs 14 office workers, 4
mechanics and 110 drivers. Gross sales for 1994 will exceed
$14,000,000.
The proposed building will serve as our corporate headquarters
and service center for maintaining our trailer fleet. Our move
is prompted by a need for additional office space and a larger
service center to accommodate our growth. The current proposal
calls for construction of approximately 23,000 square feet.
The design allows for an additional 10,000 square feet to be
constructed to the north when needed.
The building will be constructed of tip up concrete panels with
an exposed aggregate finish. Our design attempts to take
advantage of the site by utilizing the topography for earth
sheltering (to minimize energy use) and the natural screening it
provides. The proposed berm and plantings should enhance the
aesthetics of the area. All parking and manuvering areas will be
paved. The quality of construction will be equal to or exceed
that of other buildings in the immediate area.
We are very excited about this project and are looking forward to
becoming a good corporate citizen of Little Canada.
Page 118
