FAc
Northwest Associated Consultants, Inc.
U R B A N P L A N N I N G • D E S I G N • M A R K E T R E S E A R C H
PLANNING REPORT
TO: Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: Cary Teague /Stephen Grittman
DATE: 12 July 1994
RE: Little Canada - Roseville Area Middle School CUP
FILE NO: 758.09 - 94.20
BACKGROUND
Tim Dufault, on behalf of the Roseville Area Middle School is
requesting a conditional use permit for the installation of chain -
link fencing that exceeds the allowable limitations of the Little
Canada zoning ordinance. The specific application is to construct
10 foot high fence along the north property line:_of the west soccer
fields, and a 15 foot high fence along the north side of the new
tennis courts to be constructed along the east edge of the
previously mentioned soccer fields.
The purpose of the request of 10 foot high fence is to prevent
soccer balls from being kicked into the adjacent trailer court to
the north of the soccer field. There is an existing 5 foot tall
fence which does not keep soccer balls from being kicked into
peoples yards. Further, the same logic is used for construction of
the 15 foot tall fence surrounding the tennis courts. Past
experience at the middle school has shown that a 10 foot high fence
is not tall enough to keep balls in the court when 6th and 7th
graders are playing. In summary, the taller fences will provide a
safer environment on the school property and in the trailer park.
Attached for reference:
Exhibit A - Site Location
Exhibit 3 - Site Plan
Page 146
5775 Wayzata Blvd. • Suite 555 St. Louis Park, MN 55416 • (612) 595- 9636•Fax. 595 -9837
