Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a memo from our Parks & Recreation Director dealing
with his recommendation as to the quotations received for re-
roofing the Spooner Park shelters. As you will note, this
includes the band shell as well as the two picnic shelters.
Also attached is a page from our Capital Improvement Budget which
was approved this year. You will note that we had budgeted
$9,500 for these projects ($4,500 in 1994 and $5,000 in 1995).
Based on the quotations received, the amount proposed is $10,884
with the possible addition of some incidentals for wood decking
as indicated in the tabulation. This is somewhat in excess of
the $9,500 we had allocated.
It was my recommendation to the Parks & Recreation Commission
that we do all of the roofs at one time generating an economy of
scale thereby saving some dollars by not having to process
separate bids and contracts, and by mobilizing contractors only
one time instead of two. In the event that the work is completed
in 1994, we would have to move some dollars forward into that
budget year to address the expenditure. We will also have to
increase the budget by approximately $1,000 to cover these items.
In the event that the work is not completed in 1994, the budget
as proposed may be adequate with the additional dollars being
allocated in 1995.
Our Capital Improvement Budget can accommodate this project.
Therefore, it is my recommendation that we approve awarding the
quotation as recommended and make the necessary adjustments in
our Capital Improvement Budget to fund same. Should you have any
comments or questions regarding this matter, please let me know.
JRH:kpv
Enclosures
Page 58
