CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />CONTRACTOR LICENSING SURVEY <br />SEPTEMBER, 1994 <br />Little Canada: <br />Fee: $35.00 <br />A certificate of insurance and $5,000 bond required from all <br />contractors who are not State licensed. <br />Maplewood: <br />Fee: $88.00 <br />A certificate of insurance required from all contractors who are not <br />State licensed. <br />Excavators must be State licensed plumbers and City licensed to do <br />work in Maplewood. They must show proof of their $2,000 State bond <br />and an additional $3,000 bond. Therefore, the total bond would be <br />$5,000. <br />North St. Paul: <br />Fee: $50.00 for general contractors, $25.00 for excavators <br />Certificate of insurance required from all contractors who are not <br />State licensed. <br />$5,000 surety bond required only from excavators to cover costs from <br />accidents which could occur when digging in the street. <br />Roseville: <br />Fee: $25.00 <br />Certificate of insurance required from all contractors who are not <br />State licensed. <br />No bond is required from any contractor. However, deposits are <br />collected on building permits to cover any potential damage. The <br />deposits are $2,000 for commercial and $400 for residential. Also, <br />City crews are the only ones allowed to tap water mains. The charge <br />is $60 /hour for a two man crew with a two hour minimum. Additionally, <br />a street restoration fee is charged at time of license issuance. The <br />fee is as follows: <br />1/2 Width Street - $650 for improved street (w/ curb & <br />gutter, etc.) and $500 for unimproved street <br />Full Width Street - $1,300 for improved street and $1,000 <br />for unimproved street <br />Vadnais Heights: <br />Fee: $45.00 <br />Certificate of insurance required from all contractors who are not <br />State licensed. <br />$5,000 license and permit bond required only from excavators to cover <br />costs from accidents which could occur when digging in the street. <br />White Bear Lake: <br />Fee: Class I $120.00 - Commercial jobs (covers all subs) <br />Class II $35.00 - Miscellaneous contractors that are not State <br />licensed such as masonry, roofing, signhangers or general <br />contractors building only one house (does not cover subs) <br />A certificate of insurance and $5,000 bond is required from all <br />contractors who are not State licensed. <br />Page 37 <br />
