515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484-4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson & Members of the City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: October 7, 1994
RE: Hiring for the Parkkeeper Position
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
We received 82 applications for the position of Parkkeeper in the
City of Little Canada. After a thorough review of all
applications, nine were chosen for interviews. Jim Morelan and I
interviewed eight of the nine (one backed out due to family
problems), and came up with our two top candidates. We
researched their references and found the most ideal candidate
out of those interviewed.
At this time, we are recommending authorization to offer the job
to Gregory Hoag with a starting salary of $11.00 an hour. This
is middle range of what was figured the Parkkeeper would
originally be offered. Mr. Hoag would come to us with a wealth
of knowledge as he has worked for the City of Falcon Heights,
Ramsey County Parks and Recreation, and the City of Roseville.
Mr. Hoag also has a degree in Facilities Management from Anoka
Technical College and has the management experience we need in
regards to organizing the part -time employees.
Enclosed with this memo is the 1995 wage scale for the Parkkeeper
position. As stated before, I recommend hiring Mr. Hoag at the
$11.00 an hour starting salary, at six months raise his hourly
wage to $11.50, at his one year anniversary raise his hourly wage
to $12.10, and then progress along the scale as proposed.
If you have questions regarding this matter, please contact Jim
Morelan or myself at your earliest convenience.
DBH:kpv
Enclosure
Page 62
