MAIL
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
City Administrator
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Re: Ordinance Prohibiting Loud Motor
Vehicle Radios and Sound Systems
Our File No. 7751
Dear Joel:
Telephone
(612)2224541
Facsimile
(612) 223-6289
Please find enclosed with this letter, a proposed ordinance
defining the use of radios or sound systems in a loud manner as a
public nuisance under Little Canada Code Section 601.050. It is
my understanding that consideration of this ordinance will be on
the City Council's agenda for its regularly scheduled meeting on
October 26, 1994.
As we discussed, X have included language in the proposed
ordinance stating that it will be prima facie evidence of a
violation of this ordinance if the loud radio or sound device can
be heard from a distance of 25 feet or more from the vehicle. We
believe that providing an objective standard in the ordinance
will make the ordinance more effective and assist our office in
the event of prosecution under the ordinance.
If you have any questions or any suggested revisions or
deletions, please advise.
PTO :gc
Enclosure
Very truly yours,
SWEENEY, BORER & OSTROW
pcus
Paul T.
