MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
December 1, 1994
CLOSING FUND The Director stated that City staff would like the
459 Commission's concurrence to close the Park Development Fund
459. He indicated that the fund was originally set up when
the City was beginning to receive charitable gambling
donations towards the City's parks. The Director stated
that now the funds are allocated differently through the
Capital Improvement Program. Therefore, Fund 459 is no
longer being used.
Wehrle felt that donations could still be ear - marked for
parks and recreational items if the donors so requested. He
had no problem with the request.
Remerowski recommended closing the Park Development Fund 459
per City staff's request.
Motion seconded by Johnson.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
TAX FORFEITED Sanders stated that the tax forfeited property located on
PROPERTY Co. Rd. B2 is basically a wetland and an open space area.
He felt that the property is not valuable right now for any
park area. However, in the future there could be potential.
He felt that it should always be left as wetland and open
space.
Wehrle questioned if the land would ever be developed with
the new wetland requirements and guidelines. Sanders felt
that it probably could not be developed although there are
some areas that are not wetland on the property.
Remerowski asked what would happen to the land if the City
does not take it as tax forfeiture. Sanders stated that it
is put up for sale.
Sanders stated that he would recommend that the City take it
for tax forfeiture and set it aside as wetland and open
space. He commented that in the future, if the railroad
right -of -way is vacated in the area and a trail is put in,
then there would be a nice access to the property for a
trail loop.
Wehrle asked if there would be interest on the part of the
homeowners there to acquire the land. Sanders was unsure
since their lots are already large.
Johnson asked where St. Jude Medical was in relation to the
parcel. Sanders stated that it is on the other side of the
railroad tracks from the parcel. The Director stated that
the Sleepy Hollow Apartment complex is on the east side of
the parcel. Sanders stated that in the past, there have
-2-
Page 103
