of this road. Joel Hanson stated that when this street starts to
look like Lake Street, an improvement could be ordered by the
Council to maintain the City's standards.
The residents indicated that their position has not changed since
the project was proposed two years ago. A petition was presented
indicating opposition to the improvement which was signed by
eight property owners out of twelve listed. Joel Hanson
explained that the City does not want to force a project upon its
Citizens, but it does have standards which need to be addressed.
Based on the comments received this evening, staff said it would
recommend that that project not proceed in 1995. Eventually,
staff would be recommending this project occur irrespective of
the neighborhood's feelings given the deteriorating condition of
roadway. It was also explained that this recommendation will be
presented to the Council at their meeting on December 21 with a
report of this meeting. He thanked those present for their
attendance and comments.
A consensus of those present at the conclusion of the meeting was
that they appreciated the City advising them of these changes and
listening to their position.
Staff recommendation is not to proceed with the project at this
time and we will schedule for inclusion in the 1997 street
program.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Project should be deleted from 1995 improvement projects and will
be reconsidered in 1997 schedule.
Jh /mg
Page 201
