515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 551174600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Hanson & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: November 4, 1994
RE: Vadnais Inn Water Connection
MAYOR
Raymond G. Hanson
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The Vadnais Inn, located on Rice Street just north of Country
Drive, has requested permission to connect to our City's water
system. Vadnais Heights does not have water service in this area
and we did place an extension to serve this property in 1985.
Typically, we have a detailed agreement spelling out this
connection fee and other terms. Given that it is late in the
year and that Vadnais Inn would like to get connected, I am
proposing that we allow them to connect after they sign a letter
of commitment which would detail the provisions of the connection
and the fee to be paid. A deposit would accompany this letter.
The fee would be calculated on the same basis as it has been done
for other non -city commercial connections based on the criteria
established by Bob Voto. Normally, I would present this
information at this time. However, we are still trying to obtain
some of the numbers that go into the calculation and that
prevents us from determining the exact figure for the connection
fee. Given that it is becoming somewhat late in the year and
that Vadnais Inn would like to connect, I am proposing we use
this alternative approach.
If you concur, I would like authority to proceed in the manner
outlined.
JRH:kpv
Page 59
