Director, Girls Activities <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />DATE: January 21, 1994 <br />RE: Hiring of Program Coordinator <br />Interviews were completed on the candidates for the <br />position of Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator last <br />evening at 9:00 p.m. Advertisement for the position was <br />done via the Little Canada Press, Le Petit Canadien, Cable <br />Channel 16, and it was posted at City Hall. <br />Nine applications were received. Of those, six were <br />residents of Little Canada and the remaining three were <br />residents of neighboring suburbs (one from Roseville and <br />two from Shoreview). It was decided to interview all nine <br />applicants. These were conducted by Jack Fitzgerald and <br />myself this past week at City Hall. I feel we were very <br />fortunate in receiving many qualified applications. Five <br />had college level training in parks and recreation or <br />related fields, and three of the others had enough other <br />direct experience in the field to do an excellent job for <br />the department. <br />Due to the late completion of the interviews last evening, <br />I would like some additional time to discuss the applicants <br />with Jack over the weekend and then with Joel Hanson on <br />Monday. I also will be checking some references early next <br />week. <br />I will have a recommendation prepared to present to you by <br />the Council meeting on January 26, 1994. If you wish any <br />additional information prior to the meeting, please call me <br />during the day on the 26th.
