Dwelling - Single Family. A dwelling designed exclusively for <br />occupancy by one (1) family. <br />1. Attached. A dwelling which is joined to another at one <br />or more sides by a party wall. <br />2 Detached. A dwelling unit not attached to another <br />dwelling or structure. <br />Dwelling - Two - Family. A dwelling designed exclusively for <br />occupancy by two (2) families living independently of each <br />other. <br />1. Double Bungalow. A two - family dwelling unit with two (2) <br />units side by side. <br />2. Duplex. A two - family dwelling with one (1) unit above <br />the other. <br />Dwelling Unit. A residential building or portion thereof <br />intended for occupancy by a family, but not including hotels, <br />motels, nursing homes, seasonal cabins, boarding or rooming <br />houses, tourist homes or trailers. <br />E. Elderly (Senior Citizen) Housing. A public agency owned or <br />controlled multiple dwelling building with open occupancy <br />limited to persons over sixty (60) years of age. <br />Efficiency Apartment. A dwelling unit consisting of one (1) <br />principal room exclusive of bathroom, hallway, closets, or <br />dining alcove. <br />Essential Services. The erection, construction, alteration, <br />or maintenance of underground or overhead gas, electrical, <br />steam, or water transmission or distribution systems, <br />collection, communication, supply or disposal systems by <br />public utilities, municipal or other governmental agencies, <br />but not including buildings. <br />Equal Degree of Encroachment. A method of detecuiining the <br />location of encroachment lines so that floodplain lands on <br />both sides of a stream are capable of conveying a <br />proportionate share of flood flows. This is determined by <br />considering the effect of encroachment on the hydraulic <br />efficiency of the floodplain along both sides of a stream for <br />a significant reach. <br />F. Family. One (1) or more persons each related to the other by <br />blood, marriage, adoption, or foster care, or a group of not <br />more than three (3) persons not so related maintaining a <br />common household and using common cooking and kitchen <br />facilities. <br />7 <br />Page 34 <br />
