Fence. A fence is defined for the purpose of this Ordinance <br />as any partition, structure, wall or gate erected as a <br />dividing marker, barrier, or enclosure. <br />Fence - Boundary Line. All fences located within five (5) <br />feet of a property line. <br />Fence - Interior Yard. All fences located five (5) feet <br />beyond a property line. <br />Filling. The act of depositing any rock, soil, gravel, sand <br />or other material so as to fill or partly fill a waterbody, <br />watercourse, or wetland. <br />Flood. A temporary rise in stream flow or stage which results <br />in inundation of the areas adjacent to the channel. <br />Flood Frequency. The average frequency, statistically <br />deteLmined, for which it is expected that specific flood stage <br />or discharge may be equalled or exceeded. By strict <br />definition, such estimates are designated "exceedence <br />frequency ", but in practice the teLm "frequency" is used. The <br />frequency of a particular stage or discharge is usually <br />expressed as having a probability of occurring once within a <br />specific number of years. <br />Flood Fringe. That portion of the floodplain outside of the <br />floodway. <br />Floodplain. The areas adjoining a watercourse which have been <br />or hereafter may be covered by the regional flood. <br />Flood Profile. A graph or a longitudinal plot of water <br />surface elevations of a flood event along a reach of a stream <br />or river. <br />Flood Proofing. A combination of structural provisions, <br />changes, or adjustments to properties and structures subject <br />to flooding primarily for the reduction or elimination of <br />flood damages. <br />Floodway. The channel of the watercourse and those portions <br />of the adjoining floodplains which are reasonably required to <br />carry and discharge the regional flood. <br />Floor Area. The sum of the gross horizontal areas of the <br />several floors of the building or portion thereof devoted to <br />a particular use, including accessory storage areas located <br />within selling or working space such as counters, racks or <br />closets, and any basement floor area devoted to retailing <br />activities, to the production or processing of goods, or to <br />business or professional offices.
