I've given you the WHO, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN 'of things, now the WHY... For those of you who don't know Jeffrey.or myself, Little Canada and Roseville bave been our roots for the better part of the past 151- years. I moved to Little Canada flue Chisago City in January of 1978. Jeffrey was born and raised at 3117 North Rice, Street untill 1981. We came back in 1984 to Montreal Court Apartments, where Jeffrey lived and schooled untill 1989, during this time he played his ontlehall,- Teball;::two summers in Little Canada with man coaching and one summer in Roseville. We left Little Canada for the last time June 1st, 1994 to Hove to Fergus Falls, numerous reasons, but many targeted at Jeffrey's needs. Jeffrey is my oldest son, he'll be 15 in October, he suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy a progressive neuroeuscular disease, kin to Muscular Dsytrophy, particuarly Duschene. In short, due to faulty wirering Jeffrey's muscules are wasting away. And, with this disease if YOU DON'T USE IT, YOU LOSE IT, but if you can't USE IT, YOU LOSE IT ANYWAY. At this time Jeffrey's strenght has deminished considerably and his spine is going hay wire, this is very common during growth spurts and only hightens the importance of intervention at this time. Which is why I took Jeffrey to Dr. Vistad a Chiropractor here in Fergus and as fate would have it, is how I learned of the Ward Chiropractic Clinic of Long Beach, California and the success Dr. Lowell Ward has had treating children with Duschene Dsytrophy. We called Dr. Ward immediately to tell him about Jeffrey's disease and ask him if he could help? he said YES... So X made an appointment for Jeffrey to be treated August 24th through the 7th of September at the Ward Clinic. Dr. Ward's treatments are only recognized by the Muscular Dsytrophy Association as being experimental or a pilot program of sorts; therefore no money from them... no money from Medical Assistance either. But, after 13 years of no CURE, -no suggestions, no nothing... I can't let this slide, the WHAT IF'S, would haunt me eternally... So, I raise the money myself!!! In closing I'd like to say... I could have had this event anywhere... but I think it's fitting that a fundraiser titled... PLAY FOR HOPE, HOPE TO PLAY should take place in the same town Jeffrey played ball, his only ball, T- PAST.... Thank you for taking the time to consider my request, I hope you will find it a worthy cause and allow me the use of Pioneer Park. I must add the fundraiser can and would take place without a Beer Permit, but I do think it would make a large difference'in whether or not we make our goal of $10,000.00.
