MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />OCTOBER 10, 2013 <br />The City Planner indicated that he will work with the applicant to come up <br />with a site plan that shows paved parking areas as well as paved drive <br />aisles. This site plan will be ready prior to the Council meeting on <br />October 23 "d. <br />2968 RICE Schwalbach recommended approval of the PUD Permit for Interim Use <br />STREET for 2968 Rice Street, requested by Dirk Bordsen, subject to compliance <br />with the City Planner's recommendations as outlined in his October 4, <br />2013 report, while waiving the requirement for curb and gutter, with the <br />direction that a portion of the required parking for 2968 Rice Street can <br />occur on 2962 Rice Street property, and directing that a more detailed site <br />plan be prepared and submitted to the Council for consideration at their <br />October 23`d meeting. <br />Motion seconded by Barraclough. <br />Motion carried 5 — 1. Duray voted against. <br />2962 RICE Schwalbach recommended approval of the PUD Permit to accommodate <br />STREET expansion of commercial vehicle parking and joint parking with 2948 Rice <br />Street for 2962 Rice Street (PreWire), requested by Dirk Bordsen, subject <br />to compliance with the City Planner's recommendations as outlined in his <br />October 4, 2013 report, while waiving the requirement for curb and gutter, <br />with the indication that the Commission is also in support of <br />accommodating parking for 2968 Rice Street on the 2962 Rice Street <br />property as well. <br />Motion seconded by Fischer. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />AMEND The City Planner reported that the Little Canada Book Club approached <br />PUBLIC the City about allowing a public book exchange through the Little Free <br />ZONING Library concept. This concept involves a small self - service box that <br />DISTRICT — holds books which the public can access and take or leave a book. The <br />PUBLIC Planner indicated that this concept has been successful in a number of <br />BOOK communities. The Planner noted that in discussing the request, the <br />EXCHANGES Council felt it preferable to allow this activity on public property to ensure <br />that the City has sufficient control. The Planner noted that the only <br />concern is whether or not the local sponsoring group would lose interest in <br />the book exchange over the long -term. The advantage of having the <br />exchange on public property is that the City would have the ability to <br />clean up or remove the book exchange if deemed necessary.
