MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: John Pechman, Code Enforcement Official
DATE: July 6, 1995
RE: Update on Selection of Architectural Firm for "Old"
Fire Hall
Request For Proposals (RFPs) for architectural services where
mailed out during the first week in June. The RFPs were sent to
seven firms, and out of the seven firms, three asked to walk
through the facility. The walk throughs were completed by the
second week in June. The deadline for receipt of proposals was
scheduled for June 14, 1995. By the end of business on the 14th,
the City received only three proposals. The week following the
14th, I received six telephone calls from various firms
interested in the project. As a result of those calls, the
deadline for acceptance of the proposals was extended to June 21,
1995 in hopes that more would be submitted for review. However,
none of the other six firms submitted a proposal by the June 21st
deadline.
Interviews with the three firms that submitted RFPs are scheduled
for Tuesday, July 11, 1995. The firms to be interviewed are:
John Rode from Orr Schelen Mayeron and Associates, Paul Fisness
from PFA Architects, and Edward Kodet from Kodet Architectural
Group Ltd. Upon completion of interviews, the City Administrator
Joel Hanson and myself will make our recommendation on the
Architect we feel will do the best job for the City.
Upon approval from the City Council at the July 12, 1995 meeting,
the successful architect will be notified and the preliminary
ground work will begin. In addition, the architect will be
working with the "Old" Fire Hall Redevelopment Committee on
design and space issues.
Page 26
