JUL -06 -1995 13:00 FROM SWEENEY BORER & OSTROW TO LITTLE CANADA P.03/03
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
July 6, 1995
Page 2
Please be advised that the provisions of both the former
personnel ordinance and the new handbook may apply to current
employees. In an attempt to minimise this problem, we suggest
having all employees sign the statement you have provided at the
end of the handbook. Moreover, the City should have no other
agreements, oral or written, with any of its employees.
As we have discussed, we are concerned with many of the
restrictions this handbook may place on the City. For example,
the time limitations placed on the City in Sections 18
(Disciplinary Action) and Section 19 (Grievance Procedure) may be
difficult for the City to abide by. We suggest you may provide a
clause allowing the City to extend these time periods at its
discretion.
With regard to future Department Heads please refer to our
earlier correspondence to you. If a new employment agreement
becomes necessary for said positions please contact our office.
Similarly, we should be contacted if the City is considering
making any changes to the handbook.
Feel free to contact us with any further questions regarding
this matter.
PJS:go
Very truly yours,
SWEENEY, RORER & OSTROW
L PatrifritAC) Sweeney
Page 28
TOTAL P.03
