Paid time off may be granted, up to a maximum of three days, in <br />the event a permanent full -time or permanent part -time employee <br />suffers a death in his or her immediate family in accordance with <br />the provisions of this section. Additional time off without pay <br />will be granted as may reasonably be required under individual <br />circumstances, subject to the approval of the City Administrator. <br />Immediate family (for purposes of this section) is defined as an <br />employee's spouse, parents, spouse's parents, children, step- <br />children, brothers and sisters, brothers -in -law, sisters -in -law <br />grandparents, grandparents -in -law, grandchild, and spouse's <br />grandchild. <br />Jury and Witness Duty <br />A. Permanent full -time and permanent part -time employees shall <br />be granted paid leaves of absence for required jury duty. <br />Such employees shall receive that portion of, their regular <br />compensation which will, with their jury pay, equal their <br />total compensation for the same period. The time spent on <br />jury duty shall not be counted as time worked in computing <br />overtime. Employees excused or released from jury duty <br />during their regular working hours shall report to their <br />regular work duties as soon as possible. <br />B. Employees shall notify their supervisor in writing as soon <br />as possible after receiving notice to report for jury duty. <br />The employee will be responsible for ensuring that a report <br />of time spent on jury duty and pay form is completed by the <br />Clerk of Court each day so the City will be able to <br />determine the amount of compensation due for the period <br />involved. <br />C. Employees will be compensated by the City to testify in <br />Court only on City - related business. <br />23 <br />Page 55 <br />
