MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />May 4, 1995 <br />the piece of property that is being purchased was relatively <br />unusable. He stated that he would like an answer as to <br />where that money will go by the next meeting. He felt that <br />since the property was park property, the money should be <br />placed back into the park development fund. <br />TENNIS CT. Sanders stated that six bids were received with the low <br />RESURFACING bidder being Perfect Surface Company at an amount of $2,880 <br />and the high being Tennis West at an amount of $5,688. He <br />stated that there was one bidder by the name of Super -Crete <br />Products of MN which stated that his process of cleaning the <br />surface of the tennis courts is superior to others and he <br />has backed that up with a two year guarantee. Sanders <br />stated that he talked to Perfect Surface about Super- Crete's <br />claim of superiority. Perfect Surface stated that Super - <br />Crete's process is superior. However, Perfect Surface would <br />be willing to back up his own process with a two year <br />guarantee as well. <br />Remerowski asked if the companies that bid have been around <br />awhile. Sanders stated that they are all solid. <br />Hartmann asked if there were any jobs done by Super -Crete <br />that the Commission could look at. Sanders stated that he <br />does have job lists for all the bidders that could be <br />checked out. <br />Remerowski asked when problems usually start to occur with <br />court surfaces. Sanders stated that they started to show up <br />after a year with the last job that was done at Spooner <br />Park. He stated that re- surfacing should last five years. <br />He felt that a two year guarantee was sufficient. <br />Hartmann asked if there was any maintenance that could be <br />done to preserve the courts. The Director stated that it <br />could be touched up. He indicated that the goal is to <br />prevent moisture from getting under the surface. <br />Hartmann felt that the City should maintain the courts. The <br />Director stated that various contractors have claimed that <br />trees in the area cause problems since leaves drop and rot <br />on the courts. Hartmann asked if the leaves could be <br />prevented from falling on the courts by using a net over the <br />courts. The Director felt that option would not be <br />feasible. Remerowski suggested that Public Works blow the <br />leaves off the court periodically to help prevent any <br />problems. <br />Sanders indicated that $7,500 was budgeted for the courts. <br />The bids came in low. <br />Remerowski stated that he did not have a problem with going <br />PAGE 123 <br />
