MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 23, 2013
Superintendent indicated that the crossing work on the railroad property
has been completed, and the City had the remaining work left to complete.
Next reviewed was the Park Land Acquisition Budget. The Administrator
noted that $120,000 is shown for the acquisition /demolition of 56 Little
Canada Road He indicated that both the Council and Parks & Recreation
Commission have indicated support for acquiring this site along Round
Lake. He noted, however, that this property was not included in the
original list of properties that were necessary for a parks project in this
area. He also pointed out that the current asking price of this property
appears inflated. Keis stated that while it would be nice to have this
property, he agreed that the City could pass it up without negatively
impacting park improvements.
Next reviewed was the Water & Sewer Capital Replacement Fund. The
Administrator reviewed the list of major projects allocated to this fund.
The Public Works Superintendent explained in detail the proposed sewer
camera acquisition, noting that the $185,000 cost was a worse -case
scenario. The Superintendent reported that he is continuing to explore
options available, and will come back to the Council with a
recommendation in the future. The Administrator noted the cost of water
main additions at $165,000 on Australian Avenue and Schletty Road
proposed as part of 2014 improvements. It was noted that this will
essentially complete the City's water main system except for a small
portion of Vanderbie Street north of Allen Avenue.
The Administrator reported that many of the capital improvement items
included in the budget will be completed in 2014. These individual
projects will be brought back to the Council for approval. Many of the
projects are placeholders at this time and require additional analysis.
The Director encouraged the Council to aggressively pursue the
acquisition of 56 Little Canada Road He indicated that the Parks &
Recreation Commission has indicated support for this acquisition and feels
it would enhance the park development in this area. Blesener reported that
the Council has not shut the door on this acquisition.
ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
,-r
c✓y
William Blesener, Mayor
7
