WEI
Wertz el
Engineering
Incorporated
10100 Morgdn Ave. South
Bloomington, &PN 55431
PHONE 952-3SS -6516
FAX
952-88B-25B7
November 13, 2013
PROPOSAL FOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING SERVICES
Submitted To:
Mr. Joel Hanson, City Administrator
City of Little Canada
Little Canada City Center
515 Little Canada Road East
Little Canada, MN 55117
Project Description:
We are pleased to submit this proposal for structural engineering services for the above referenced project.
Our understanding of the project and scope of work is based on existing structural documents and a
discussion with you.
The Proposed project is the Structural Evaluation of an existing building at 2858 Centerville Road in Little
Canada. The existing building is approx. 6,270 sq. ft. and appears to be constructed of concrete masonry
walls and steel bar joist roof structure supported by steel beams and columns. The foundation of the
building appears to be supported by conventional spread footings with a slab -on -grade main floor.
Additionally, the building in question appears to have several loading docks located along the South side of
the building. There is also an existing building on the West side of this building that appears to be slated for
demolition. We understand that this West building has a basement.
Per the request for proposal provided by your office, we understand the following issues to be addressed:
1. Evaluate the floor slab of the building for vehicle storage and /or access. It is possible that the
building would be used to house a single -axle plow truck.
2. Determine the adequacy of the existing structure for possible accommodation of road salt storage
inside the building.
3. Evaluate and comment on any issues that may occur due to demolition of the existing structure on
the West.
4. Comment on other issues that the Owner should be made aware of regarding the re -use of this
building, based on information that can be readily obtained from the existing building plans and on
on -site Structural Observation visit.
5. Determine the condition of the existing roofing system and discuss estimated longevity of
remaining roof.
