MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />NOVEMBER 7, 2013 <br />MARKET The Director reported that the next Market Place Morning Talk is <br />PLACE scheduled for November 13th and will consist of entertainment rather <br />MORNING than the traditional health topic presentation. There will be no Morning <br />TALKS Talk in December. <br />LCRA The Director indicated that LCRA will be taking the youth volleyball <br />HOSTING teams to a MN Gopher Volleyball Game tomorrow evening. <br />MN GOPHER <br />EVENT <br />EAGLE Sanders reported that the City received an inquiry from a boy scout <br />SCOUT working toward his Eagle Scout badge about a project at Veterans <br />PROJECT Memorial Park. The scout would like to work on the addition of a picnic <br />AT area in the park. Sanders indicated that he felt a picnic area could work <br />VETERANS into the design, and suggested that the boy scout attend the next <br />MEMORIAL Commission meeting to present his ideas. Sanders indicated that he could <br />PARK do the design work for the project to ensure it fits into the park. <br />ADJOURN <br />It was also noted that the buy -a -brick program for the park continues to <br />generate dollars for the park development. The Director indicated that the <br />Veterans Memorial Committee's hope is to break ground in the spring <br />around Memorial Day with completion of the park improvements by <br />Veteran's Day. The Director also pointed out that any Commissioners <br />interested in attending the Veterans Memorial Committee meetings are <br />welcomed to do so. He noted that Dan Slain had volunteered to be the <br />Commission liaison on that Committee. The Director also indicated that <br />information on the buy -a -brick program is available on the City's web <br />site. <br />Maida moved the meeting be adjourned. <br />Motion seconded by Steinert. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m. <br />Respec ully subm' -red, <br />Kathy Glan <br />City Clerk <br />3 <br />
