MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 18, 2013
TEXT
AMENDMENT -
STORAGE
AND PARKING
ON
RESIDENTIAL
PROPERTIES
The City Planner reported that the City currently allows off -site outdoor
storage as an interim use between I -1 District properties in Little Canada.
The proposal is to expand this by allowing I -P District properties the
ability to rent outdoor storage space from I -1 District properties as an
interim use. The Planner noted that this allowance would be limited to
Little Canada businesses only. The Planner further noted that the amount
of outdoor storage allowed on I -P properties is intentionally very limited.
This allowance would give I -P properties additional options for addressing
outdoor storage needs.
There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by McGraw, seconded by Blesener, the public hearing was
closed.
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2013 -12 -226 — APPROVING A TEXT
AMENDMENT TO ZONING CODE SECTION 914.045 ALLOWING
OFF-SITE OUTDOOR STORAGE FROM INDUSTRIAL -PARK (I -P)
DISTRICT PROPERTIES AS AN INTERIM USE ON LIGHT -
INDUSTRIAL (I -1) DISTRICT PROPERTIES AS RECOMMENDED
BY THE CITY PLANNER AND THE PLANNING COMMISSION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider a Text Amendment to
Zoning Code Sections 903.020.0 and 903.050 for storage and parking on
residential properties. The Planning Commission has recommended
approval of this Text Amendment subject to the recommendations of the
City Planner.
The City Planner reported that the Council and the Planning Commission
have held a series of meeting relative to the issues of storage and parking
on residential properties. Discussions focused on what can be stored on
residential properties, where storage can occur, and under what conditions.
The Planner further pointed out that the existing Code addresses these
storage issues in several sections of the Zoning Code. Therefore, another
goal was to try to bring these references together in one location to make
them easily understandable and accessible.
7
