Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADSmVISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Here are some comments I have regarding the revised community survey
received from Decision Resources. My comments are as follows:
* Questions #58 and #59 could possibly be combined into one
question. It would seem to me that Question #58 will not give us
a great deal of useful information where Question #59 does tell
us exactly the type of split that property owners feel is
reasonable.
* The preface to Question #62 states that we are considering
offering a reduction in residential water bills for people who
read their own meters. This is not the case. Rather we would be
using this to hold our costs down and minimize future increases.
Therefore, I do not feel Question #62 is appropriate. I think
the question should read... "Presently, the City of Little Canada
has paid meter readers go out to our residences and businesses to
obtain water meter readings four times a year. This is a very
time consuming and costly process. Some communities furnish a
card to water utility customers and the customer reads the meter
and returns the card to the city. This process would result in
some substantial savings of time and money. These savings could
be used to minimize future water rate increases. Would you favor
a change in the City's water meter reading system whereby the
City furnishes a card to its customers and the customer would
provide water meter readings to the City on a once per quarter
basis ?"
* Question #68 should have "traffic congestion" changed to
"traffic /speed control."
* Question #77, #78, and #79 do not appear to provide any useful
information at all and should be eliminated from the survey. It
should be noted that we have asked the respondents' impressions
of service quality in Question #30.
* Question #92 should encompass the cost implications of the
Page 13
