MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
January 5, 1995
that the sign should at least be purchased in stages.
Remerowski motioned to request the Council to reconsider the
issue of the City Hall Information /Monument Sign.
Motion seconded by Doolittle.
Motion carried 5 - 1. Johnson voted against.
The Director felt that if funding is not available, the City
should pursue solicitation of funds from other sources.
Remerowski felt that the City could also wait until funding
is available. He felt that there was no hurry in installing
a sign at City Hall.
KELLER PKWY The Director stated that a neighborhood meeting on the
IMPROVEMENTS Keller Parkway improvements will be held on either
January 30, 1995 or February 1, 1995. The Commission will
receive a notice on this meeting once the date is finalized.
COMMUNITY The Director stated that a workshop has tentatively been
SURVEY scheduled for January 25, 1995 to discuss the final draft of
the community survey. Copies of the revised survey
questions were distributed to Commission members along with
the City Administrators comments. The Director stated that
the Commission should review the questions and either attend
the meeting or get their comments to the City Administrator
before the meeting.
Remerowski felt that there should be a question in the
survey about how valuable residents think a message sign at
City Hall would be.
ISTEA GRANT
FOR TRAILS
The Director stated that the Parks Consultant would like
authority from the Commission to apply for an ISTEA Grant
for trails. He indicated that this grant would be applied
for jointly with Maplewood, and would be an 80/20 grant with
the cities paying the 20% portion. He stated that a meeting
with Maplewood and Ramsey County will be held to discuss the
possible link up of Little Canada's trail system to
Roseville and Maplewood with an ultimate tie into the
regional trail system.
Johnson recommended that the Parks Consultant be granted the
authority to apply for the ISTEA Grant for trails on behalf
of the City of Little Canada.
Motion seconded by Magnuson.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
-4-
Page 15
