Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Attached is a letter from Investigator Janke at the Sheriff's
Department which provides a break -down of the amount of time he
spends each month in his dealings with Lincoln Pawn & Jewelry.
You will note that Janke indicates he spends 14 hours per month
on pawn shop duties, and that this time is increased if he
identifies stolen merchandise.
Please be advised that under the Sheriff's contract the cost of
an investigator is $73,926.05 annually, or $35.56 per hour.
Below would be the annual cost to the City under the Sheriff's
Contract for time spent monitoring activities at Lincoln Pawn.
14 Hours - $5,974.08
15 Hours - $6,400.80
16 Hours - $6,827.52
17 Hours - $7,254.24
18 Hours - $7,680.96
In establishing a pawn shop license fee it would be staff's
recommendation that a $1,000 administration fee be added to the
hourly cost the City incurs under the Sheriff's contract. This
would cover city staff time and other incidental police costs not
addressed in the above calculation.
Page 1
