To: Little Canada City Council
From: Deputy Lary Janke
Re: Lincoln Pawn
The following is a synopsis of what my dealings with Lincoln Pawn are and an estimate of the
time involved in each step .
1- Receive slips from Lincoln Pawn on a daily basis by mail for all items either pawned or sold to
them. I generally hold these for a two week period before I check them by NCIC computer to see
if they have been entered as stolen by any police agency. Once they are checked I file these slips
by month and they are held for 6 months. This generally takes about 2 hours a week.
2- Receive teletypes from other police agency's on an as sent basis, usually 1 or 2 a day I take
these and check my computer file from Lincoln Pawn for the names and or serial numbers that
are on the teletype. I do this once a week and it generally takes about 1 hour.
3- Receive requests from other Investigators to check for items or persons in regards to cases they
are working on an as needed basis. This would involve about 1 hour a month.
4 -Twice a month I go to Lincoln Pawn and they down load the transactions from their computer
to a disk which I supply. This disk is then brought back to my office where I load the information
into the Pawn Shop file in my computer. This would take about 1 hour a month.
The above steps take about 14 hours of time each month. This time can be increased if I get a hit
on an item which shows it to be stolen or if I am assisting another agency in recovering an item
from Lincoln Pawn. I feel that this is an accurate account of time spent in working the Pawn
Detail.
Page 2
2'd ' OSO?J Wd6S:TO 56, 60 NUE
