Keller Parkway Traffic Flow
It was brought to my attention that residents of the Keller Parkway area had
some concerns about traffic flow in their neighborhood. As the traffic deputy I spent
some time evaluating their concerns. During the week of January 23rd I spent
approximately 11 hours doing traffic surveillance. During the week I spread these
hours out throughout the day and evening hours, six hours in the morning, 3 hours
over lunch hours, and 2 hours in the evening. I not only issued citations for violations,
but I also documented speeds of vehicles during the surveillance. There are six
separate categories of speeds. The following is a break down of those categories:
PEED
MORNING
EVE
NCx 'TOTA
20-30
85
30
28
143
40.74%
31 -35
90
28
29
147
41.88%
36 -40'.
27
8
15
50
14.25%
41
-45
7
1
1
9
2.56%
46=50
2
0
0
2
0.57%
51+
0
0
0
0
0.00%
TOTAL
211
67
73
351
100.00%
Based on my observations and the results, 82.5% of the vehicles through this
area are traveling less than 35 mph. The majority of the vehicles are complying with
the posted speed limit.
Page 75
