HOURS OF WORK <br />Work Schedules <br />Working hours of City employees may vary among the different <br />departments and may vary by assignment within a department. In <br />general, however, the work day shall be eight (8) hours and the <br />work week shall be forty (40) hours. Supervisors may require <br />their employees to work overtime in situations where it is <br />required in order to ensure the orderly and efficient operation <br />of the government. Normal office hours shall be 8:00 A.M. to <br />4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise stated by the <br />department head and /or City Administrator. <br />Rest Periods <br />Employees working four consecutive hours are allowed time to <br />utilize the nearest convenient restroom. Said time shall not <br />exceed ten (10) minutes. <br />Lunch Breaks <br />A. Each full -time employee is required to take a lunch break, <br />for which there is no compensation, approximately midway <br />through an eight hour work period. This lunch break period <br />is a minimum of one -half hour in duration and is measured <br />from the time work is stopped until it is resumed. Lunch <br />breaks can be up to one (1) hour in length subject to <br />approval by department head and provided the normal work day <br />is achieved. <br />B. Lunch breaks shall be scheduled by the department head to <br />ensure continuity of services. <br />10 <br />
