Vacations <br />A. Vacation leave shall be accrued on a monthly basis for each <br />calendar month of active service by all full -time employees <br />and permanent part -time employees, other than seasonal or <br />temporary, working a minimum of 20 -hours per week pursuant <br />to the following schedule: <br />Length of Employment: <br />1 through 5 Years <br />6 through 15 Years <br />16 Years to End of Service <br />Leave Days <br />10 work days <br />15 work days <br />20 work days <br />Permanent part -time employees working a minimum of 20 hours <br />per week, other than seasonal or temporary, will be granted <br />vacation pro -rated based on average number of hours worked <br />per month applied against the rate applicable above for a <br />full -time employee, rounded to the nearest hourly increment, <br />not to exceed the full -time accrual rate. <br />B. The City will make a reasonable effort, while considering <br />the needs of the City, to schedule vacations of more than <br />three working days at times requested by employees, provided <br />that four (4) weeks advance notice is given by the employee. <br />Vacation schedules shall be set by the employer with due <br />regard to the seniority of the employee, the preference of <br />the employee, and the need for efficient and uninterrupted <br />operation of the department. Once scheduled, an employee's <br />vacation shall not be changed unless approved by the <br />department head. Vacation may be granted without four (4) <br />weeks advance notice at the discretion of the department <br />head. However, as much advance notice as possible should be <br />provided by the employee in order for the City to <br />efficiently schedule vacations. <br />C. Employees may use vacation time, after completing three (3) <br />months of employment, as it is earned. <br />D. Employees are allowed to carry -over into the succeeding <br />calendar year an amount equal to the employee's annual <br />vacation accrual rate. Special authorization from the City <br />Administrator must be granted to accumulate vacation in <br />excess of this rate. <br />E. When requesting use of vacation time, the vacation request <br />form must be completed and approved by the employee's <br />supervisor. One copy of this form is kept with the <br />employee's time card and the other is returned to the <br />employee, either (a) approved or (b) not approved with an <br />explanation. <br />F.
