which his /her supervisor and /or City Council shall be the judge of his /her <br />fitness and ability to satisfactorily perform the work he /she is assigned. <br />(B) All original appointments as a regular or permanent part time <br />employee shall be subject to an initial probationary period of six months, <br />during which time said employee shall be defined as a probationary <br />employee and during which time an employee may be disciplined or dismissed <br />by the City without recourse; Upon completion of the initial probationary <br />period, a written evaluation of the employee's performance shall be filed <br />by such employee's supervisor with the City Clerk. <br />(C) All promotions shall be subject to a six (6) month <br />probationary period. If the employee who has been promoted is found <br />unsuited for the work of the position to which promoted, such employee may <br />be reinstated to the position and rate of pay previously held or to some <br />other position in the class from which such employee was promoted. <br />209.080. POSITION CLASSIFICATION. The City Clerk shall establish <br />and maintain a position classification plan for all positions covered by <br />the provisions of this ordinance. All positions shall be grouped in <br />classes, each having a definite range of difficulty and responsibility. <br />When a new position is created for which no appropriate position <br />classification exists, or when the duties of an existing position are <br />sufficiently changed so that no appropriate class exists, the City Clerk <br />shall create a new class and cause an appropriate position classification <br />to be written for said class. All position classifications are subject to <br />review and approval by the City Council. <br />209.090. OVERTIME. <br />(A) City Clerk and Building Official. These employees are exempt <br />from overtime requirements except as provided herein. No overtime <br />compensation shall be paid to the City Clerk and Building Official, but <br />such employees shall be entitled to compensatory time off on a straight <br />time basis for each hour worked in excess of forty (40) hours per week. <br />(B) Superintendent of Public Works. The Superintendent of Public <br />Works shall be exempt from overtime requirements, except as provided <br />herein. No overtime compensation shall be paid, but such employee shall <br />be paid additional straight time pay for all hours worked which are in <br />excess of forty (40) but not more than forty -eight (48) (eight hours <br />maximum). For all hours worked in excess of forty -eight (48) hours per <br />week, such employee shall receive compensatory time off at the rate of one <br />and one -half hours compensatory time for each hour worked in excess of <br />forty -eight (48) hours per week. <br />(C) Recreation Director and Assistants. These employees shall be <br />paid on an annual salary basis and shall not be entitled to any overtime <br />compensation. <br />(D) All Other Regular Employees. All such employees shall be <br />entitled to pay at the rate of time and one -half for all hours worked in <br />excess of forty (40) hours per week, or in lieu thereof, the employee may <br />elect compensatory time off at the rate of one and one -half hours <br />compensatory time for each hour worked in excess of forty (40) hours per <br />Page 25 <br />PAGE 61 <br />
