▪ A resident asked if street lighting could be looked at along the entire stretch of
road. He stated that there were some dark spots that could use some lighting.
The City Administrator said that staff could look into it and put some options
together. Decorative lights or lights that didn't adhere to the City's policy would
need to be paid for by the residents. The residents present at the meeting were ok
with this possibility.
:' A resident asked at what point the street would have to be rebuilt if it didn't
happen in 2014. Mr. Elfering stated that the road is at the point that the residents
needed to be asked about it to start the process. He said it could probably make it
another few years but it also may deteriorate over one winter and require work
right away. If it doesn't go in 2014 the residents would likely be called in every
year or every other year until the project was approved.
• A resident asked what would happen if a tree outside of the right -of -way was
killed as a result of the construction. Mr. Elfering said that the City has replaced
trees in the past that were damaged or killed due to construction. The
replacement tree would typically be smaller— 6 -8 feet tall evergreens or 1 -1.5
inch deciduous trees.
➢ It was asked why water main was not installed when the street was originally
constructed. The City Administrator replied that he was not sure.
L It was asked if residents had to hook up to water once it was on the street. Mr.
Elfering stated that residents did not have to hook up to City water but would
have to pay the assessment for water. Residents could also leave the outside
spigots on a well if they wanted to as long as it was separated from the domestic
water supply.
Y A resident inquired about already having a copper water line running into the
house. The City Administrator answered that the contractor could hook up to the
existing copper as long as it could be easily located.
There was a question regarding the four homes that have already connected to
city water via the back of their hones and connecting to the water main on Little
Canada Road. The City Administrator stated that staff had located some
assessment information regarding these properties but more research needed to
be done before an answer would be known.
)- A resident asked if the road would have to be rebuilt again within the foreseeable
future. Mr. Elfering replied that the next major project on the road shouldn't take
place for 20 -25 years and that would be a mill and overlay.
» It was asked how many rain gardens would be needed along Schletty Drive to
meet the requirements. Mr. Elfering figured 5 -6 gardens would be necessary. He
added that the City owns some property that might make sense for a few of them.
33
