MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 22, 2014
One property owner asked about the necessity of putting in the water main
improvement. The consensus of the Council is that water main needs to
be installed at the time of the road reconstruction from an economic
feasibility standpoint. In addition to providing property owners with the
option of connecting to City water in the event that wells fail, water main
provides for enhanced fire protection.
The Council asked for a show of hands in support of proceeding with the
improvement. A number of property owners indicated support for the
project, but not all voted in support. In asking about a resurfacing of the
street there were about 50% in favor of that level of project.
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2014 -1 -13 — DECLARING THAT THE CITY
WILL NOT PROCEED WITH IMPROVEMENT NO. 2014 -02,
SCHLETTYDRIVE, AT THIS TIME
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The neighborhood asked for further cost analysis of a rehabilitated road
versus a reconstructed road. The City Administrator also discussed
possible credits for the water main given the way past connections were
allowed for some in this neighborhood that have resulted in increased
costs to the remaining properties. The City Council supported this
concept. The City Administrator also discussed a potential credit for
curbing given it is the water main project causing the majority of removal.
The Council asked the City Engineer to put some estimates together
reflecting these options.
ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
Atte tl - s. L
son, City Administrator
William Blrisener, Mayor
5
