SECTION 18 - NON - DISCIPLINARY SEPARATION <br />Resignation <br />A. Any employee wishing to leave the City service in good standing shall file with his <br />supervisor at least fourteen (14) calendar days before leaving a written resignation stating <br />the effective date of this resignation. Failure to comply with this procedure may be <br />considered cause for denying such employee future employment by the City. <br />B. Unauthorized absence from work for a period of three (3) days may be considered by the <br />supervisor as a resignation. <br />Severance Pay <br />All regular full -time and part -time employees who leave the employ of the City by resignation, <br />retirement, or death shall receive pay for unused accrued vacation unused Paid Time Off( PTO) <br />and compensatory time subject to maximum accruals. Employees leaving the City's employ can <br />elect to be compensated for unused accrued vacation PTO or to have the value of accrued <br />vacation -PTO deposited in the employee's Post Employment I Iealth Care Savings Plan subject to <br />election requirements of the Plan. <br />All regular full -time and regular part -time employees who leave the employ of the City by <br />resignation, retirement, or death shall receive pay for accrued remaining deferred sick leave <br />balances based on the schedule below. Severance pay based on aeerae4 deferred sick leave will <br />only be paid by the City to the employee's Post Employment Health Care Savings Plan. For <br />those employees that opted to convert deferred sick leave to PTO as provided for in the PTO <br />provision of this policy, the time converted will be deducted from the pav -out maximums below <br />on a one - for -one basis. <br />% of Unused To <br />Sick Leave Pay -Out <br />Balance Maximum <br />5 years to less than 10 years of service 30% 10 days <br />10 years to less than 15 years of service 35% 20 days <br />15 years to Less than 20 years of service 40% 30 days <br />20 years of service and above 50% 42 days <br />33 <br />16 <br />
