515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Dave Harris, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: April 7, 1995
RE: NSP Electric Service Agreement
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scatze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R Hanson
In October, 1987, the City of Little Canada entered into an
agreement with NSP for our booster station to be on the peak
control for power. With this contract, NSP agreed to provide
service and the City agreed to run its pumps from 9 p.m. to
9 a.m. to save money and to keep from having a large drain on
NSP's power sources during the summer months. By entering into
this agreement, the City received a better electric rate that it
normally would have had it been on the regular power use fees.
That agreement ended in October, 1992.
NSP has brought in a new agreement which is to commence April 19,
1995 and continue until April 19, 2000. After reviewing the rate
comparison summary of what our annual charges are and future
projections at the rate the City of Little Canada is paying on
the second tier at this time, it is projected that it will cost
us an additional $6.48 per year. I am recommending that we enter
into this agreement with NSP for the peak control tiered service
as we have in the past.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, feel free to
contact me.
DBH:kpv
Page 10
