MINUTES
Parks i Recreation Commission
May 4, 1995
Greger felt that a more appropriate access would be where
Lakeshore hits Old Co. Rd. C. He stated that the Tima
property is pretty tight so there would not be enough room
for a link there. The Director stated that it would be a
long stretch without another access. Greger felt that it
was only 400 feet from Bluwood down to Lakeshore.
Remerowski stated that he thought the Commission had already
made a decision on the matter. The Director stated that
access from the Bluwood /Australian cul -de -sacs over to the
railroad bed was never addressed. Remerowski stated that he
has a tough time going back on a decision. He felt that the
residents are now under the impression that the Commission
is not asking for land.
Greger felt that the City should not improve the path along
Jackson Street from Demont up to Bluwood. He felt that it
should be left natural. Sanders stated that there has
always been a concern in the neighborhood for the kids'
safety since many children use Jackson Street to go to
school. Greger stated that the path is there, it's just not
improved. He felt that when Jackson Street is widened, it
will be safer for the children to use.
The Director stated that he felt that an improved path from
Demont to Old Co. Rd. C is necessary. However, he felt that
the path from Old Co. Rd. C to Australian could be left
natural until such time that heavier use warranted the
paving.
Johnson felt that if the Commission's recommendation is
changed, there would have to be additional meetings with the
neighborhood. She felt that this could cause problems.
Greger recommended that the City not improve the path
between Demont and Bluwood leaving it as a natural path
until a later date.
Seconded by Johnson.
Motion failed. 1 - 2. Remerowski and Johnson voted
against. Hartmann and Holm abstained.
VOLLEYBALL The Director stated that the Public Works Superintendent has
MOINISella obtained some prices on materials needed for the sand
volleyball court at Spooner Park that is to be installed
this summer. He indicated that landscape ties are needed to
separate the sand from the dirt. The cost of the sand is
$950, timbers $900, and other miscellaneous items $250,
bringing the total cost to $2,100. The Director commented
that the Public Works Department will be installing it so
there will not be any charges for labor.
Page 101
