Hanson
Mr. Bill Dircks
Mr. Richard Naughton
Ms. Kathy Glanzer
The Mayor reported that the purpose of this special meeting is to review
the project scope and budget for the new Public Works /Parks Garage
facility. Blesener reported that the design committee has been meeting on
this project, has toured other public works /parks facilities, reviewed the
City's equipment listing, worked from the premise that equipment should
be within one building, and, as a result, has come up with a facility design
and cost estimate. Blesener noted that the cost estimate for the proposed
design is considerably over the initial budget estimate. Blesener indicated
that the goal of this meeting is to determine whether or not there is
Council support for the project as proposed as well as the associated cost.
McGraw indicated that he believes that the facility as proposed contains
no frills. The proposed project would accommodate both Public Works
and Parks Departments needs in one site. He agreed that there was sticker
shock in the price, but noted that this facility will serve the City for many
years to come. McGraw pointed out that the proposed design is based on
input from Public Works and Parks employees, existing equipment
inventory, and tours of other similar facilities. McGraw again indicated
that there are no frills in the building as proposed.
