MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 7, 2014
With regard to the cost of the project, Keis indicated that his concern was
that change - orders could drive the cost of the project up further. It was
noted that the estimated building costs are currently in the neighborhood
of $2.6 million and land costs at $675,000. The Construction Manager
indicated that he did not anticipate significant change orders. He noted
that the biggest problem he could foresee was with regard to had soils,
however, based on the borings, the soils are acceptable. There is one
small area that may require soil corrections. McGraw indicated that
during the meetings with the architect, the Construction Manager
communicated that the City did not want change orders on this project.
Keis asked how solid the numbers were at this point. The Construction
Manager felt the numbers were solid, and pointed out that there have been
thorough discussions during committee meetings. The Construction
Manager also noted that the building is not a complex project, therefore,
did not anticipate a lot of changes.
Keis stated that he agreed that the project should be done correctly and
that this building will serve the City for some time. He noted the
increased cost estimate, and that the options relative to financing the
project would not result in increased property taxes.
Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2019 -2 -26 — CALLING FOR BOND SALE OF
$825,000 G.O. SEWER & WATER BONDS FOR ADDITIONAL
FINANCING OF THE PUBLIC WORK/PARKS FACILITY
RESULTING IN TOTAL BONDING FOR THIS PROJECT OF $3.4
MILLION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The Administrator indicated that he would inform Ehlers & Associates of
the Council's action, and noted that the Bond Sale will be considered by
the Council at their February 12th meeting.
The Construction Manager agreed, noting the concern relative to overhead
doors facing Centerville Road as well as the salt storage issue. Montour
noted that his concern is with the appearance of the facility from
Centerville Road. The Construction Manager indicated that he would
raise the concerns and see if there are options that could be considered.
5
