Hanson MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of the City Council FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator DATE: April 4, 2014 RE: Fee Schedule Update - 2014 Organized Collection Rates Effective January I, 2014, the tipping fee used to calculate the disposal fee in the organized collection contract went from $56 /ton charged in 2013 to $56.81 /ton. Below are the updated 2014 Trash and Recycling Rates based on the increased tipping fee. It should also be noted that collection fee rates did increase from 2013, but that increase was negotiated with the haulers during the contract renewal in 2011. With the current agreement, the collection fee has preset increases in the collection fee over the five -year contract term. Based on the increased tipping fee, city staff recommends approval of the updated 2014 Trash and Recycling Rates for Attachment A of the Organized Collection Contract and the City Fee Schedule.
