MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 11, 2007 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution adopted. <br />ARBOR Mayor Blesener read a proclamation proclaiming Friday, April 27, <br />DAY 2007 as Arbor Day in the City of Little Canada. He announced that an <br />Arbor Day Celebration will be held in Spooner Park on Friday, Apri120, <br />2007, at 1:00 p.m. <br />Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2007-4-82 -PROCLAIMING ARBOR DAY IN <br />THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted <br />SEVERE Mayor Blesener announced that the week of April 8`" is Severe Weather <br />WEATHER Awareness Week. Sirens will sound on Thursday, April 12`" at 1:45 p.m. <br />AWARENESS and at 6:55 p.m. This is a good time for people to practice their shelter <br />WEEK plans and think about where they would shelter if at work or driving in a <br />car. <br />PUBLIC Mayor Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider an increase in the <br />HEARING - On-Sale Liquor License fee from $3,590 per year to $3,700 and in the <br />LIQUOR On-Sale Wine License fee from $515 per year to $535. Blesener noted <br />LICENSE that as discussed in June of 2006, increases for these liquor license fees <br />FEE will be tied to the annual gross levy increase for the next five years. <br />INCREASE Blesener reviewed staffls report dated April 5, 2007 and noted that <br /> increases are not proposed to other liquor license fees since the fees are <br /> either regulated by State Statute or are comparable to what other cities are <br /> currently charging. <br />Tom Duray, owner of Hoggsbreath, reported that he is representing the <br />On-Sale Liquor License businesses in the City. He indicated their support <br />for the methodology being used to determine liquor license increases <br />versus business owners having to absorb large increases at one time. <br />Blesener noted that the methodology was suggested by former Council <br />Member Jim LaValle. <br />2 <br />
